The Illinois State Crime Commission/Police Athletic League of Illinois (ISCC/PAL-IL) began fundraising Monday for its Clothing for Kids Campaign with help from Chicago Bears' Brian Urlacher at exclusive Gibson's Steakhouse in Chicago.
The ISCC/PAL-IL needs to raise enough money to purchase 5,400 new coats. The number 5,400 was chosen as the goal because Urlacher wears number 54 for the Chicago Bears. With assistance from people like Urlacher they remain hopeful that their goals will be met.
The Illinois State Crime Commission/Police Athletic League of Illinois conducts this event without administrative costs, allowing every cent collected to benefit kids.
The tentative schedule for the event has Urlacher and the Illinois State Crime Commission/Police Athletic League of Illinois giving coats to kids just before Thanksgiving, in time for another cold Chicago winter.
The Illinois State Crime Commission/Police Athletic League of Illinois plans to continue working to make sure as many kids as they can help are covered with brand new warm coats.
The coats, as pictured here, are double insulated with hoods and will be distributed throughout Cook, Dupage, Kane and Will Counties in an attempt to reach as many needy, coatless kids as possible.
